28,402. Kramer, E. Dec. 24. Incandescent gas lamps. -In an inverted incandescent gas lamp, gas is admitted by a nozzle a to a mixing-tube b, air being admitted by openings n, which are protected from draught by a ring c. The lower part of the mixing-tube is enclosed in a globe e supported by a deflecting-plate d, the effect being to raise the mixing-tube to a very high temperature when the gas is lit, ensuring complete combustion. The mixing-tube is insulated from the fitting by a ring i of non-conducting material such as porcelain or steatite. A supply of air for combustion is drawn in through the opening n and also through the bottom of the globe e. To prevent back-firing a tapered piece h is detachably secured to the end of the mixing-tuhe, and may serve also as a support for the mantle f.
