Abstract
12,646. Morrell, R. L. June 19. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. Liquid hydrocarbons are admitted to the chamber A in bulk to carburet air forced over them by a blower C. Air entering the chamber A passes in through the pipes E and the stop valve S, and after passing through perforated partition plates B leaves the chamber by a second stop valve S and pipes F, one of which opens into a pipe D' leading to a gas-holder. An auxiliary air supply is admitted to the mixture as it enters the outlet pipe D<1>, by a regulator I communicating with the air-supply pipe D. Regulators similar to that shown at I are provided to control respectively the air supply to, and the mixture supply from, the chamber A. The regulator shown in Fig. 3 has inlet and outlet openings L, M respectively, which communicate through a port, controlled by a valve O attached to a float or diaphragm N, the diaphragm being exposed to pressure on its underside.
