Abstract

9395. Withers, A. D. April 18. Carburetting. - A carburettor comprises a tube a. containing a concentric wick b to which hydrocarbon is supplied and a helical member c for directing the air current. The ends of the tube a are connected to the air inlet and gas outlet. Hydrocarbon is supplied in regulated quantitv to an annular chamber e communicating through holes f with the wick b. The member c may be provided with a collar g. In a modification, the tube is horizontal, and is provided with a longitudinal upper compartment containing a plate upon which the hydrocarbon is fed, and from the edges of which it passes to the wick. A heating-jacket may be provided.
