Abstract

Bulkheads; tanks; compartments. -- Below the main deck of.the vessel, the space is divided by a vertical longitudinal bulkhead E, and between the main deck and the upper deck A the space is divided by two longitudinal bulkheads F<1>, F<2>, enclosing a compartment G. The sides F', F<2> are, preferably, sloped together near the bottom. The wing-spaces H<1>, H<2> are in communication with the lower portion of the hold, being specially adapted for grain cargoes. The compartment G may be used for ballast, cargo, or passengers. The whole structure is stated to form an efficient longitudinal girder.
