Abstract

5870. Staablgren, K. A. A. March 20. Annular-chamber type .-Fig. 1 shows a vertical section and Fig. 3 an horizontal section of a rotary engine having two annular chambers 12, in which two opposite pistons rotate. The pistons project from piston disks 2 secured to the main shaft 5. The rotary abutment is geared to the shaft 5 and rotates upon a stationary hollow shaft 16, which forms the steam inlet. Ports 28 in the shaft 16 admit steam behind the pistons when the passages 19 in the abutment register with these ports, the abutment thus acting as a cut-off valve. Exhaust takes place through a port 31, to which the front of the piston is always open.
