Filling Of Jars Or Cans And Processes For Cleaning And Sealing Jars
(AREA)
Abstract
11,010. Sellenscheidt, C. May 12. Bottling.- In bottle - filling and like apparatus for beer and other liquids under pressure, the bottles are directed accurately to the filling- nozzle by a bellmouthed guide a, which is carried by bolts d loosely attached to the filling-bead e or to the adjacent framework, the bolts being surrounded by springs c, which normally hold the guide in its lowest position. When the neck of a bottle is thrust into the guide, the guide is raised with the bottle, against the action of the springs c, so that the bottle neck is directed on to the filling-nozzle, notwithstanding variations or irregularities in the bottle. The bottle may be pressed against the nozzle by pneumatic or like pressure acting within an expansible cushion, for instance, as described in Specification No. 1077, A.D. 1904. The springs c aid in the disengagement of the filled bottle from the nozzle.
