Cigarette-making machines.-In those machines in which a continuous paper strip is wrapped about a filler rod of tobacco and the seam is secured by pasting, a heated pressing-bar is used to dry the paste rapidly and to iron the seam. After the seam has been pasted, the cigarette rod r, Fig.4passes beneath the pressing-tongue 15, Fig. 2, and along the setting-channel 17 to the ironing-bar 25 preferably heated by a tube 27 in which plays a bunsen flame. The bar 25 is preferably adjustable and made capable of being turned back out of the way. The feeding-tape y, after supporting the cigarette during the ironing process, passes back over the roller 20.
