Abstract

16,213. British Thomson-Houston Co., [Curtis, C. G.]. July 22. Steam &c. turbines. - A multiple - expansion elastic-fluid turbine has a number of casings each containing turbine wheels mounted on a common shaft. The end casing C contains forward-driving wheels F and a reversing-wheel H on the shaft D and separated by a common exhaust chamber G. When the turbine is arranged for forward running, condensation water carried into the reversing- turbine would produce a loss of power, and, to prevent this, the reversing-chamber is isolated by a perforated partition 1. A curved guide K is arranged in front of the partition to deflect water towards the exhaust L.
