Abstract
9618. Thompson, W. P., [Duysens, T., and Klijnen, P.]. April 28. Annularchamber type of steam engines. The annular chamber 4 is divided into compartments by two abutments 5, which have curved ends adapted to push the steam-pressed piston vanes 17 into the piston drum 6. Each piston vane is provided with a rocking admission and expansion valve 20. The valves are pivoted in the side walls 15 of the piston drum, these walls being packed with spring rings 16. Each valve has a crank-arm 22 adapted to be rocked by a curved guide 26 on an adjustable rod 23 regulated by a handle 24. The rocking of the valve regulates the extent to which steam can pass from the inlet 3 through the branched passages 19 in the piston drum and then through the cut-away part of the valve to the working-chamber.
