Abstract

22,178. Probst, E. Oct. 21. Annular-chamber type. -Steam acts between spring-pressed vanes F, sliding in recesses B<1> in the periphery of a rotary drum B, and spring- pressed abutments G actuated respectively by plates g and f<1>. The abutments are formed as shown in Figs. 7 and 8, and the vanes . in the various compartments B<1> are arranged so as to reach the top of the cylinder successively. The passage of steam from the inlet N to the cylinder A, and therefrom to the exhaust ports J, J<1>, is controlled by a reversing-valve I, operated by a handle H<1>, and a valve M operated by eccentrics. Split tubes C, to which steam passes by ports C<1>, prevent leakage between the drum and cylinder ribs. Plates D, with spring parts d and projections e, and plates E prevent leakage at the sides.
