28,854. MacKenzie, J. A. Dec. 31. Annular-chamber type of engines which may be actuated by steam, water, gas, air, &c. and used to propel ships. As adapted for use with steam, a ring-shaped chamber A, Fig. 1, contains a piston vane D on a disc B<1>, and has a sliding abutment E actuated by rocking arms H<1> connected to a cam P on the driving-shaft. The shaft has two similar rotary-disc valves I, Fig. 2, each having a segmental aperture I<1> co-operating with a series of admission apertures a in the side walls of the working-chamber. The valves are used for forward and reversed running respectively. In a modification, a rotary abutment is used.
