Feb. 19 Marine-type boilers.-Each furnace A is provided with two combustion chambers B, C of cylindrical form, placed one above the other and connected by a D-shaped, circular, or other neck H. The lower chamber B forms a continuation of the furnace, and may be formed in one with it. Both chambers pass through the back end of the boiler, and are closed on the outside by a firebrick wall N and an outer removable cover O. The front end of the chamber C is closed by the tube-plate J. In order to facilitate the removal of the furnace A and chamber B, their outer ends are flanged and riveted or otherwise secured to the end plates E, F; or the openings in the plates may be flanged. Similar arrangements are provided for securing the chamber C.
