Abstract

114,403. Okrassa, R. F. E. April 4, 1917. Fire-boxes.-In a boiler having a fire-box carried by open frames mounted on the bottom of the boiler shell, which is provided with openings registering with the openings in the frames, the frames are spaced apart so as to form channels into which the feed-water is fed. Four rectangular frames 15 are mounted around openings 17, 18 in the boiler shell so as to form transverse and longitudinal channels 16, 16<a>, between their inner edges. The feed-pipe 24 opens into a hollow transverse member 22 fitted above the channel 16. The grate bars 20 are supported on frames 21. Sediment is blown down through a pipe 25 opening into the channels. Rods adapted to be agitated externally by cam devices project into the channels to prevent sediment from collecting.
