Abstract

27,939. Williamson, W., and Collinson, J. Dec. 18. Loom shuttles; stopmotions; weft-replenishing mechanism; alarms.-As the cop D, Fig. 11, becomes exhausted, it is forced along the shuttle tongue B by a spring-pressed collar E. A catch e, Fig. 3, projects from the collar E, and holds back a spring arm G until the catch e arrives at a notch therein, when the spring arm is released and a stud g attached to it is caused to project through a hole in the side of the shuttle. The position of the notch in the spring arm may be adjusted by a slide. At the next shot of the shuttle, the stud g passes under the end m of a lever M pivoted on the shuttle box K, so that the wedge-shaped end m<1> is depressed. At the next beat-up of the lay, the end m<1> is passed beneath and raises the inclined end n of a lever N pivoted to the breast beam L, so that the other end n<1> is depressed on to the weft fork P, bringing it into engagement with the weft hammer R to stop the loom or change the shuttle or the weft filling. The lever N may operate any other stop mechanism, electrical or otherwise, or any shuttle or weft replenishing mechanism, or may actuate mechanism to signal to the attendant that the weft requires replenishing.
