Abstract
2807. Hamilton, C. A. Feb. 9. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. A float 8 operates through levers 12 a valve 5 for admitting oil to the vessel 2, and carries a nozzle 11 which remains just above the surface of the liquid. Air is drawn through openings 18 in the cover 16 past the nozzle, and carries oil with it into the mixing-pipe 19, when it meets a supplementary air current entering through the gridiron valve 21. The float has a cover, which retains drip from the nozzle near the air current. The effect of suction on the float is balanced by a piston 23. The efficiency of the apparatus is not affected by inclines on which the motor may be standing.
