Abstract

15,271. Graham-Yooll, F. R. Aug. 28. Feeding-bottles.-To facilitate the insertion and removal of the feeding-tube B, Fig. 1, and the cleansing of the parts, the screw or other plug stopper A is made in two parts, between which the tube B is inserted. To prevent longitudinal movement of the tube, it may be formed with collars C, or provided with corresponding bands. The teat may also be attached by securing it between the two halves of the stopper, or by placing it on a glass tube, against which it is clipped by the stopper. The flow of liquid may be regulated by employing a rubber tube furnished with washers, and moving the tube and washers so as to compress the tube against a shoulder at the top of the oval or other aperture in the stopper. In the regulating-arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the rubber tube G rests in a slot D, E in the stopper, being held in position by the washer F. In the normal position, the tube G is fully open, but, by screwing the stopper in more firmly, the flange of the stopper, which may be furnished with projections &c. H, compresses the tube, so as to stop the flow partially or entirely. A glass tube or a teat may be similarly attached, or a slot to receive the tube may be formed in the neck. In a modification, the stopper has a tapered neck, on which a washer is arranged to compress the tube inwards against the stopper. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the feeding-tube can be moved into any one of the three slots J, K, L, on slightly unscrewing the stopper. The slots J, K permit a full and a partial flow respectively, while in the slot L the tube is compressed to stop the flow.
