10,667. Benoit, E. June 12. Spittoons.-A bowl 1, set in a floor, has a discharge opening and valve 7, an overflow pipe b, and a water-supply valve 5. It is covered by a grid 3, held by a pin entering a hole in a supporting-flange. The water supply valve 5 is held closed by a spring retained by a pin in the valve casing 4, and can be opened by a lever 8 and attached yoke 10, on which a key 11 is pressed, through the grid. The discharge valve 7 consists of a rubber or leather disc held between metal discs, and is connected by a loose bolt to the lever 8, so that it is raised when the key is depressed sufficiently.
