Water-waste preventers; closet seats. - In seataction valve-discharge apparatus constructed with a view to the prevention of bursting by frost, depression of the seat b, Fig. 1, causes the valve a<1>, Fig. 2, in the case A to open and allow water to pass from the service pipe a through the pipe e and check valve into the cistern f. The seat being released, the reverse motions occur, the valve d, Fig. 1, is opened and the closet is flushed. Water in the pipes drains off by the valve d<1> and pipe c. Instead of the valve d, valves k, l, Fig. 5, may be used, the part p being omitted. In this case, the valves are normally kept closed by a spiral spring. In Fig. 5, the supply and flushing valves are shown combined, and as situated when the seat is depressed, the branch x being in connection with the cistern. The latter is closed so that the water is ejected by the pressure of the enclosed air. Restitution of the moving parts may also be obtained by means of a spring q, Fig. 6, beneath the seat. The above devices constitute improvements on the arrangements described in Specification No. 11,713, A.D. 1904.
