C o m b i n a t i o n t o o l s; handles. - A number of tools b, such as a chisel, g o u g e, bradawl, gimlet, screwdriver, spanner, &c., are loosely pivoted between the side plates a of the handle by a bolt c with a wing nut c'. The two side plates a are fixed to a block g at the lower end of the handle. The tools b are formed with a projection b<1> on one side, and corresponding sockets b<2> on the other side. The projection fits into the upper or lower socket, according as it is held in an open or closed position. Other tools, such as a saw or file, longer than the handle, may be temporarily attached to the handle in the same way. A small tool d, such as a bradawl or gimlet, may be fixed to the handle by dovetailing it into one of the tools b and elongating the bolt-hole d' so that the base of the tool b may be protruded for receiving the tool d and then withdrawn. The Provisional Specification states that the tools b may be pivoted together on a bolt or rivet and held rigid by a second bolt arranged parallel to the first and passing through holes at either side of the pivot holes. It also states that a measure of length may be marked on the tool.
