23,814. Martin, J. Nov. 11. Windows.-The sashes e are hinged to loose sliding stiles at one side of the frame, and are secured to loose sliding stiles a at the other side of the frame by pivoted spring catches g, which engage with slotted plates and draw the sliding stiles firmly against the sash stiles. When it is desired to turn the sashes inwards on their hinges, the upper sash is first lowered, a pivoted retaining-bar is turned across the frame to engage with the catch l in order to prevent the loose stiles from being drawn up by the weights, and the catches g are turned back by means of a key inserted in sockets in spindles of the catches.
