Abstract

24,884. Fairbank, C. Oct. 29. Hinged sliding windows.-The inside lining of the frame forms the architraves C. The sashes A, B, are hinged on one side to dovetail strips D, sliding in grooves in the frame, and at the opening side are fitted with spring plungers H engaging metal-lined grooves J in the frame, the stiles of which are rabbeted. The plungers H are pressed against the frame with sufficient force to support the sashes in any position, and are withdrawn from their grooves by cam-levers K. The bead of the frame is formed with a recess M, as shown in Fig. 5, so that the upper sash A may be swung in below the lower sash B ; and the lower sash is preferably hung on double hinges. Weather - excluding grooves, such as 0, may be formed in the frame. According to the Provisional Specification, spring rollers mounted on the sash engaging vertical rods on the frame may be used, instead of the spring plungers H.
