Sliding sashes in oneplane; double-glazed windows. -Sliding sashes are double-glazed by providing grooved mouldings h<2>, on the stiles, and lower rails of the sashes h, into which fit inner sliding sashes h'. The mouldings h<2> on the lower rails serve as grips when moving the sashes, and the moulding on the lower rail of the top sash forms a draught-proof joint with the rabbeted top rail of the lower inner sash h'. The sashes are balanced by cords attached to pins l on the sashes and passing over spring drums e<1>, and rollers r are fitted to the frame to facilitate raising the lower sash when withdrawn from the frame to allow the upper sash to be lowered.
