Windows.-The upper edges of the sashes 2, 3 are connected by s i d e cords 10, and the lower edges by cords 12 passing over pulleys 9 so that one sash is balanced by, and caused to slide in an opposite direction to, the other. The middle part of the casing on each side is mounted on a pivot 8 to allow the sashes to be rotated for the purpose of ventilation, cleaning, or the like. The sashes can be moved outwards when the pivoted portion of the frame has been swivelled clear of the fixed portion. The sash stiles are rabbeted to clear the pulleys 9.
