Fig. 2 shows a pneumatic tyre, one edge 4 of the outer cover 3 of which is thickened and has united to it a locking- flap 6 provided with longitudinal ribs or corrugations 8 to engage with ribs 10 on the other edge 9 of the cover. Both of the edges 4 and 9 are roughened on their exposed faces as shown at 11. Fig. 5 shows the invention applied to a single-tube tyre, in which case the tyre and its edges are coated with thin layers 13 and 15 of rubber, and a sealing-layer 14 of soft rubber renders the tyre airtight.
