Abstract
4159. Brown, R. K. Feb. 16. Windows, sliding. The holder is arranged to lock the sashes in any position against operation from the outside. A casing F, let into the frame A, contains a pivoted plate G, with a laterallyadjustable tooth l at its lower or free end. The plate is normally projected outwards by a spring s so that the tooth engages with a rack bar K attached to the sash b. An elbow lever m pivoted to the casing has a finger-piece m<11> so that, by gripping it and a fixed projection 0 on the casing, the lever is operated to push back the plate and release the sash. The rack bar is attached to the sash by staples Y, and has antifriction rollers P held in it at each end. Similar rollers may also be attached to the opposite side of the Rash. The holder is applied to each sash, and the lever m of the upper holder may be connected to a cord passing under a pulley fixed on the upper sash meeting-rail and over a pulley fixed to the upper - part of the frame, so that by pulling the cord the tooth is disengaged and the sash raised.
