Abstract
189,553. Shields, H. F. H., and British Ropeway Engineering Co., Ltd. Sept. 2, 1921. Piling material in bulk; terminals and stations for overhead and suspended ways. - An aerial ropeway conveyer is arranged for dumping material over an area such as A, B, C of low-lying land before transferring the terminal stations 50, 60 to a fresh position. The out-going or loadcarrying span 51 of the travelling endless cable 51, 52 is carried on movable supports, comprising an angle station 70, Fig. 1, and frames 90, Fig. 7, at either side thereof, and these supports are advanced from time to time in the direction 100 as the work proceeds. The angle station 70 ccmprises a central frame 71, Fig. 2, with horizontal sheave 73 for the cable, and side frames 77, 78 which can be turned about the axis of the sheave 73 by toggles 80, 81 moved by screwed shafts 82. The three frames carry telescopic shunt-rails 75, 74, 76 for the load-trolly. The angle station is mounted on rails, and is anchored by a cable 83 which can be hauled in for moving the station by power taken from the endless cable 51. 52. The terminal station 60 is V. shaped in plan, one arm swivelling about the axis of a guide-sheave of the endless cable, and the two arms having telescopic shunt-rails for the trolly. The station is also provided with tensioning and paying-out gear for the endless cable.
