316,081. Guilbert, P., Legrand, J., and Lemaire, M. H. June 18. 1928. Divided on 308,527. Plant for relaying track.-A screener and excavator are mounted on one wagon for re-ballasting a single track, the excavator comprising two articulated guide-frames 56, 57, Fig. 1, for supporting a chain 64 having several buckets in its width. Frame 56 is hinged at 58 to a frame 59 on the wagon 60, and the frames are suspended by cables 61, 62 from a shear-leg 63. The ballast is carried by a conveyer 65, hopper 66, and conveyer 52 to the screener 32. The spent ballast travels by hopper 33 and conveyer 53 to a hopperwagon, while the cleaned ballast travels by a shoot 36, conveyers 37, hopper 67 and conveyer 68 to a hopper 69 and shoot 70 leading to the road-bed. Short lengths of rail are laid to carry the wagon over the road-bed, but this is avoided by mounting the excavator 73, Fig. 3, at the end of a long arm 74 suspended from a crane 75, the ballast passing on to conveyers 76 - - 78 and the cleaned ballast returning by conveyers 79 - - 81. For transport, the excavator is supported by a bolster wagon. Specification 292,947 is referred to.
