411,711. Cleaning railway ballast. LEMAIRE, M. H., 15, Avenue la Bourdonnais, Paris. Aug. 11, 1933, No. 22515. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1932. [Class 104 (ii).] In apparatus for cleaning and relaying railway ballast comprising a beam mounted on bogies and carrying excavators and screening devices, the excavator buckets 11 run between chain guides 12 which carry skates or sliders 13 for supporting the sleepers of the raised track. The excavator frames 1, 2 are vertically and horizontally adjustable, and each bucket carries a lateral plough 29 for loosening the ballast. The ballast discharged by each bucket is guided by the inclined bottom of the preceding one into a hopper feeding a conveyer 3, which transfers it to a conveyer 4 feeding a vibrating screen 5. The cleaned ballast returns to the track by a shoot 9, while the refuse is removed by conveyers 6 and 7 or 8. Specifications 366,857 and 372,141 are referred to.
