Abstract
963,154. Conveyer systems. TRANSPORTKONSULTA.B. Dec. 21, 1960 [Dec. 22, 1959], No. 43928/60. Heading B7L. [Also in Division E1] In a transporter assembly in which wheeled vehicles run on at least a pair of spaced parallel tracks the wheels are rotatable about an axis arranged perpendicular to the supporting surface and the wheels engage the track supporting surface at points eccentric of the rotational axis. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 2 a vehicle 1 is suspended below the lower downwardly inclined flange 6 of channelshaped spaced apart rails 7 by wheels 3 having a concave running surface 5 and rotatable about vertical disposed axles 2. The vehicle 1 can be moved on tracks 10 until the wheels 3 reach the position shown in Fig. 2 from which position the vehicle is moved sideways along tracks 11, 12 in the direction of the arrow until it reaches the end of the tracks 11, 12 where it is then moved rearwards. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the vehicle is supported above the flanges of L-shaped rails by wheels of a similar configuration to those shown in Fig. 1. In a further embodiment shown in Fig. 4, the vehicle is supported above tubular tracks 20 by concave wheels 21 rotatable about vertical axes 22. In the switching arrangement shown in Figs. 6 and 7, the vehicle is moved along tracks 25, 26 until it reaches a position in which the vehicle wheels can move along rails 31, 32 and 33, 34. When the vehicle reaches the above position two of the four vehicle wheels bear, respectively, on track sections 27, 28 rotatable about pivot pins 29, 30 and such track sections 27, 28 are pivoted through 90 degrees by hydraulic jacks 35, 36 to the position shown in Fig. 7, thus enabling the vehicle to move along the tracks 31, 32 and 33, 34 arranged at right angles to the tracks 25, 26. In this arrangement the distance between the centre of the vertical axis 22 and the running contact of the wheel 21 with the rail 20, Fig. 4, is the same as the distance between the pivots 29, 30 and the running contact of the 27, 28 with the wheels 21.
