Abstract

Drawing-frames. - A drawing device for slivers comprises a series of rollers I .. 8, Fig. 3, of small di,ameter rotated at successively increased speeds in accordance with the draft required. The rollers are provided with rounded grooves in alignment, such grooves having slight serrations on their surfaces. The slivers are passed from guides along the grooves and are held in them by rollers 20, Fig. 4, carried by spring arms 17, the pressure of which can be adjusted by screws 18. The rollers are driven from a train of gears by flexible shafts. The device may be mounted to operate on the slivers either as they leave a set of carding-machines, or as they pass to a throstle frame, or it may be used as an independent machine. The slivers may be passed through two or more of the devices to obtain increased draft.
