Abstract
188,095. Read, W. G. Aug. 16. 1921. Hatches.-The hatch sections are locked bv a removable locking-bar one end of which is secured by a removable lock sunk in a recess integral with the hatch coaming. The hatch sections 3 which may be strengthened by internal metal sheets or bars take at one end between the channel member 5 fixed to the coaming and are secured by a centrally-disposed bar 4 of T- section the vertical flange of which fits at one end into a slot in a socket box 14 secured to the coaming. A pin 17 which is passed through aligned holes in the locking-bar and socket carries at its end a lock 18 the casing of which fits into a corresponding recess in the socket-box to which it is secured by shooting the bolts of the lock in the ordinary way. In modifications a small circular hatch cover is secured by radial bolts 4<x>, Fig. 20, which are locked in their operative position by a removable lock 20. In another form one section of the hatch cover is arranged at right angles to the other sections.
