187,989. Vello, L. S. Oct. 29, 1921, [Convention date]. Pressing.- A mould for making glass caps T for electric lamps containing leading-in wires f, f<1>, as shown in Fig. 1 and described in Specification 187,988, [Class 39 (ii), Electric lamps, Incandescent], comprises a die formed in halves p, pl. Fig. 2, pivoted together at o and having complementary grooves i, i<1> that form apertures for the reception of the wires when the die is closed. The matrix is also formed in halves l, l<1>, Fig. 5, pivoted together at q and adapted when closed to embrace a guide B for ejectors. A projection s, Fig. 6, of one ejector contains recesses y, y<1> for the reception of the lamp contacts c, c<1>, Fig. 1, respectively. A rod v<11> carries a hook u adapted to hold the bend of a U-shaped wire, the upstanding parts of which constitute the wires f, f<1>. The rods of the ejectors are connected to a lifting-member r by a lost-motion attachment so that thev do not rise until the member r has raised the hook u. In making bayonet caps having two contacts in one plane, the ejectors are dispensed with. The central glass rod may be soldered to the cap, or it may be moulded therewith by the provision of a central tube in the die, glass being forced up this tuba by the descent of the die.
