Abstract

497,127. Two-part couplings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 24, 1938, No. 9056. Convention date, March 25, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] A socket particularly foi festoon lighting comprises a screw shell 3 fitted within an insulating casing 1 open at both ends, and secured therein by plastic material moulded between the shell and casing and over one end of the casing to close it. The shell 3 has a flange at the top that fits the shell 1 at the base of a flared mouth 2 and at the bottom a disc 5 carrying a centre contact 8. Leads 12 are attached to the shell and centre contact, brought out laterally through notches in the contracted lower edge of the casing 1 and the whole then placed in a mould and rubber forced in from below to seal and finish the lower end of the fitting, to anchor the leads 12 and to fill the space between the shell 3 and the casing 1. The rubber is then cured. A supporting clip consisting of a spring wire bent to form a loop 16 around the socket and two downwardly extending ends spaced from the outside of the casing 1 may be provided.
