Abstract
18,318. Wallace, G. Aug. 25. Incandescent lamps are provided with glass caps. The bulb F is fused to a ridge B on the cap A, thus allowing renewal of a broken bulb. The platinum wires supporting the filament pass through tubes in the cap, the inner ends of these tubes being fused over the wires, while the outer ends open into recesses C for the reception of the contact-pieces, which are cemented, cast, or moulded in position. The projections on the cap to engage the bayonet joint of the holder may be glass projections cast with the cap, or may be formed by pins inserted in the cap.
