In the arrangement shown, the capillary tube a is formed with two enlargements c forming mercury reservoirs and an expansion chamber f. Into the reservoirs c through the end portions b of the tube pass tungsten wires d connected to resistance coils g contained in the enlarged ends of the tube and connected to the terminals of a lamp cap k.
