Hinge and swivelling joints.-In water level indicators of the kind in which the gauge glass is rotatable on its longitudinal axis in order to turn the glazed sight opening in the protective casing towards tlie observer, the terminal flanges d of the branches c adjacent to the cocks a are provided with top and bottom concentric spherical surfaces. The spherical end face g of the glass is separated from the top of the flange by a washer h and the ends of the two-part, bored-out screw e<1>, e<2> bear against the under side of the flange. This arrangement permits of the rotation of the gauge glass whilst maintaining a tight joint even if the parallelism of the end cocks has been upset by warping of the boiler shell.
