Abstract

187,926. Smith, W. D. June 8, 1922. Reciprocating-saw machines.-A log-cutting or like sawing machine comprises a wheeled carriage 11 on which is mounted a frame 33 reciprocated in guides 32 by a crank 29 and connecting rod 30, the shaft 17 being driven by a hand wheel 19 or an internal combustion motor (not shown). The double-edged counterweighted sawblade 40 slides between vertical guides 34 and is fed by a nut 53 on a vertical screw 50 rotated by a hand wheel 52, the nut engaging one of the plates 42 which clamp the saw blade between them. For transport the frame 33 and an extension 37 of the top guide 32 are withdrawn into the carriage, which may be made available for hauling by attaching hooks to the lower part 13 thereof.
