Proving - appliances. - An endless sole conveyer a, on which the loaf portions are close set, passes through a proving chamber d and an oven c, the final proving and baking thus being a continuous process without intermediate handling. The prover d is movable on a track g whereby the rest period between the prover and the oven may be varied. The sole a may comprise a series of cast iron laths with jointed side bars and rollers, and projects beyond the oven and prover sufficiently to permit of setting and removing the loaf portions. Guide wheels or rollers with suitable tracks are provided to retain the conveyer in the desired path in the oven, and upsets, of any known form, are piovided at the sides of the conveyer to maintain the close setting of the bread. Gas burners or other means e impart the bottom heat between the prover and oven; or such heating may be effected by burners, steam pipes or other means f within the mouth of the oven. The oven is heated in any known manner. The prover may be built in sections, one or more of which may be detached or telescoped to vary thedistance between the prover and the oven.
