Abstract
15,189. Cruickshank, J., and Fraser, C. July 2. Bakers' ovens.- A set of steam tubes is provided for each chamber of a decker oven of the Perkins type, or for the upper and lower portions of a singlechamber oven, and the different sets of tubes are heated so that the temperature of each chamber, or of the upper and lower parts of the single chamber, can be varied independently. As applied to a double decker oven, the lower chamber D is heated by tubes A, the furnace portions of which are arranged to form a loop in one half of the furnace chamber, while the upper chamber is heated by a similar set of tubes, of which only the loops E in the other half of the furnace are shown. The products of combustion pass from the furnace through flues C, G separated at the rear of the fire-bridge by a tongue or projection H, and dampers J, K are provided so that the furnace gases can be directed to heat either or both sets of tubes. As shown in Fig. 1, each tube forms a complete circuit, and is carried along the length of the baking chamber and back again both at the bottom and the top.
