Abstract

Bakers' ovens.-A baker's oven having one or more baking-chambers is heated by a fire-box comprising superposed imperforate fuel surfaces and adapted to burn pulverulent fuel, the lower oven chamber being shielded from the direct heat of the fire by an horizontal intermediate wall or baffle around which the gases flow in passing to the oven flues. The baffle receives heat from the fire and imparts it to the passing gases. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the gases from the fire-box a pass around the baffle d through flues b, c, air being admitted at o to effect combustion of the gases. The gases flow through flues f, g around the baking- chambers e, h to the outlet k. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the baffle d terminates in a wall p, and the gases take the path indicated by arrows through the flues m, g, f, c, n, to the outlet k.
