Springs, arrangement of. - A spring suspension for motor and like vehicles comprises a flat leaf spring of the cantilever type and a secondary spring of great sensibility arranged in series with the leaf spring and disposed at or near its middle point. As shown, the cantilever spring 4 is pivoted to the chassis 1 at 3 and bears directly or by means of a member 6, on the axle 7. The secondary spring comprises a helical spring 9 arranged between the clip 10 on the spring 4 and a bracket 8 on the chassis, abutments being provided to limit the compression of the spring 9, so that the spring 4 acts alone for heavy loads. The abutment 12 is preferably adjustable. The spring 9 may be replaced by two or more springs arranged on each side of the abutment 12.
