Abstract

186,473. Linwood, A. July 25, 1921. Pedestal, pillar, and like stands; stand heads. -In an adjustable stand for blow lamps or the like, the lamp is trunnioned in a fork member 8, rotatably mounted in a stem 3 which is vertically adjustable in a tripod 1. The trunnions are provided at opposite sides of a split band 11 adapted to clamp the lamp by means of a screw 13, one of the trunnions having a screwed end to receive a wing-nut 14 for locking the lamp in the adjusted position about a horizontal axis. The fork member 8 is secured in position about a vertical axis by means of a screw passing through the wall of a hollow boss 6 at the base of the fork and engaging an annular groove in the stem 3 whilst the lamp is secured at the desired height by a screw 4 in the head of the tripod. To ensure stability of the device, a weight may be attached to the lower end of the stem 3 by means of a hook engaging the hole 16. A tray for the reception of tools may be provided at the head of the tripod. In a modified form of lamp-clamping band, Fig. @, the adjusting screw 13 engages short lengths of rod 15 disposed within the looped ends of the band 11.
