Winding-indicators.-A mechanism for indicating the degree of winding of the mainspring in a clock-work device comprises a nut 1 working on a threaded part of the barrel arbor 2, and a pin 4 fixed to the barrel 3 and operating in an aperture in the nut 1. During winding the barrel arbor 2 is rotated by the winding-mechanism and the nut 1 is moved along the arbor. When the main spring is released, the barrel 3 rotates and, driven by the pin 4, the nut 1 is rotated and unscrewed along the arbor 2. These displacements of the nut 1 are used to indicate the degree of winding of the mainspring by means of various index-operating arrangements. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the nut 1 is provided with a collar 5 which co-operates with the forked end of a lever 6 pivoted at 7, which lever, by means of a finger 8 acting in a helicoidal groove 9, turns a spindle 10 provided with an index 11. In a modification, a circumferential groove cut in the nut 1 and a co-operating finger on the end of the lever 6 actuate the, index; while a further modification consists in forming the nut 1 with an inclined side and spring-pressing one end of a lever against the side of the nut. The other end of the lever carries a rack which gears with a pinion on the indicator spindle.
