Abstract

526,932. Linear-dimension gauges. MAHR. C. March 29, 1939, No. 9869. [Class 106 (ii)] A dial indicator for a gauge comprises a casing 1 in which slides a plunger 2 upon which is loosely mounted a sleeve 5, a notch in the end of which is engaged by a pin 4 normally pulled into the notch by a spring 14 so that the other end of the sleeve abuts against the casing. A rack 6 on the sleeve gears with a pinion 7 on the back of which is a wheel 8 gearing with pinion 9 on the pointer spindle 10. The pinion 9 gears with a wheel 11 on the axis of which is a spiral spring 12 which acts through the gears to compel the sleeve 6 to move upward towards the pin 4. When the plunger however gets a sudden movement the pin 4 moves away from the sleeve which follows under the influence of spring 12. Shocks are thus not transmitted to the indicator.
