Abstract
184,325. Horwich, H. J., and Steinman, E. A. June 20, 1921. Frames and connections.-In a metal bedstead in which the bed bottom is tensioned between the end rails 16, the side rails 13 are slidably supported at each end in a collar 22 adapted to engage, by a hook-shaped slot 23, with a cross-pin 5 carried by a bracket member 4 detachably secured to the bed post 2. The member 22 has a bent-up portion 21 to limit the sliding movement of the end of the side rail. The bracket 4 is secured to the bed post by a key 7 and pin 8, as shown. The member 22 is preferably formed of a stamping from sheet metal, the ends 18 being butt welded and with the upper edges secured to an angle-iron 19. The end rails 16, which are connected by the bed bottom, are secured to the members 19 and rest on the upper edges of the collar 22. The bracket 4 is also formed of sheet-metal stamping, with side wings 6 supporting the pin 5 adapted to be engaged by the slot 23 of the member 22. When the parts are assembled, the edge of the member engages with the bracket 4, the face of this bracket member being curved to fit the bed post.
