Abstract

227,592. Bullock, J. W. Dec. 8, 1923. Berths.-The mattress frames of ships' berths are detachably secured to their supports by projections on one part engaging, by a horizontal movement of the mattress frame, beneath overhanging portions on the other part, the co-operating projections and overhanging parts being retained in engagement by means independent of the supports. Fig. 2 shows projections 5, struck up from the mattress frame 1, engaging beneath overhanging parts 4 of the supports 2, the engaging parts being retained in position by the leeboard 7. The lee-board may be secured in the position shown, by a tongue 11 and a spring catch 16 engaging slots in the mattress frame rail 13.
