Abstract
184,139. LeGrain, R. L. G., (Assignee of Savary, P. H. R.). Aug. 4, 1921, [Convention date]. Laminar springs. -The end of the master leaf of a vehicle suspension spring, for example of the cantilever type, is bent to enclose the upper part of the axle box 1 and terminates in an upwardly curved nose 13, the spring being secured on the box by a stirrup 14 having arms 15 which pass around the lower part of the box and are secured to a croos-bar 18 seated on the nose 13. The arms 15 engage grooves in the box 1, and the wheel axis is situated approximately in the plane of the master leaf. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, (3) (a) also comprises the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled) in which the axle box 1 is formed with lugs 2, 3 disposed beneath the horizontal diameter of the box and the master leaf 4 is secured thereto by a bolt 9 and U-bolt 6. The axle box need not be cylindrical but in any case the end of the leaf 4 is shaped to fit the top of the box. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
