Abstract

205,488. Bugatti, E. Oct. 13, 1922, [Convention date]. Axles.-The front transverse member 14 of the chassis is supported between helical or other springs 15 bearing against the flanges of a sheet metal axle 11 of U-shaped crosssection and variable depth, to which is secured forgings 12 carrying the swivelling axles. To permit relative vertical and angular movement and prevent relative transverse movement between the chassis and axle, a sleeves 22 secured to the member 14 passes through a slot 21 in the axle and carries a disc 16 which is free to rotate on the sleeve and is formed with an oblong projection 16<1> engaging the slot 21. The axle may be enclosed in a casing of the form shown in broken lines in Fig. 6.
