Abstract

183,906. Forsyth, G. H. April 27, 1921. Disc wheels.-The disc forming the body of the wheel is resilient in the plane of the wheel and formed with radial ribs or corrugations 28, and a peripheral portion 23 offset at an inclination to provide a rim-supporting felloe, the tyre-attaching devices being adapted to place the disc under radial compressive stress. The depressions 27 between the ribs may be formed with an abrupt inner wall 29 to bear on the hub flange and may also be flanged around the central opening 31 to afford an additional abutment. In a modification the ribs and depressions are continuous to the inner edge of the disc, and the hub flange and clamping plate are correspondingly fluted. The felloe may be formed at intervals with pressed-out recesses bearing closely under the rim.
