Lantern doors; lens-holders special to lanterns. -A vehicle lamp is provided with a detachable front carrying the front glass and adapted to be secured in the lamp by means of a spring connection, means being also provided for locking the front in the operative position. In one form, the front d, Fig. 3, is secured to the reflector b by means of projections b<6> on spring tongues b<5> engaging an annular recess d<2> on the lamp front. The reflector b is axially adjustable in the lamp casing a, and can be locked in a forward or rearward position by means of a rotatable part b<3> at the rear end b<1> engaging projections a<1> on the rear of the casing a and provided with slots to enable this adjustment to take place. The reflector is held in the, forward position for the insertion of the lamp front d, and is then allowed to recede into the casing a under the influence of a spring c ; the tongues b<5>, being embraced by the front of the casing a, are positively retained in the operative position so that the front cannot be detached. The reflector b is held in the rearward position by the spring c and by rotation of the rear extension b' of the reflector. In another form, the locking of the lamp front h, Fig. 4, in the operative position is achieved by a forward movement of the reflector f under the influence of a spring c, the spring tongues b<5> and projections b<6> being situated on the lamp front h, and engaging with an annular recess g<1> on the lamp casing g. In a further embodiment in which the lamp body j, Fig. 5, forms the reflector, the locking of the front d in the operative position is effected by means of a metal strap i, which is fastened to the casing j by means such as a bolt and wing nut, thus locking the projections b<6> on the tongues b<5> in engagement with the annular recess d<2>.
